We grieve alongside his family, the Muslim community, and the thousands of people whose lives he uplifted through faith and compassion. But grief alone is not enough. To our knowledge, no other prison chaplain in U.S. history has taken their own life while on duty inside a correctional facility. That fact alone should shake New Yorkers to their core.
