May 3 • RAPP + Coalition of Human Rights Groups to address U.N. Racial Justice & Equality in Law Enforcement Commission, calling for Abolition of Death by Incarceration

On May 3, at a historic visit to New York City of the U.N. Expert Mechanism on Racial Justice and Equality in Law Enforcement (EMLER), RAPP — among other major human rights groups, including the Abolitionist Law Center, CCWP, Center for Constitutional Rights, DROP LWOP, Amistad Law Project, Right to Redemption, Families United to End LWOP, Thomas R. Kline School of Law, and The Sentencing Project — will call for abolition of life imprisonment, or “death by incarceration,” as a violation of human rights

RAPP Community Leaders Jose Saldaña and Stanley Jamel Bellamy. Bellamy, just released from prison April 24, 2023 after nearly 40 years inside, will speak on a panel at the May 3 EMLER town hall in NYC (see Events listing)
