RAPP CAMPAIGN STATEMENT ON END OF NY LEGISLATIVE SESSION

June 5, 2026

“Our movement made enormous gains … but we cannot let our lawmakers get a pass”

(New York) — Today, on the final day of New York State’s 2026 Legislative Session, Jose Saldaña, Director of the Release Aging People in Prison Campaign (RAPP), a crime survivor, and a survivor of 38 years in New York State prisons, released the following statement:
“This year, our movement made enormous gains that must be celebrated, yet we cannot overlook the anguish of the 76 families grieving loved ones who died in prison or the tens of thousands of families with incarcerated loved ones at risk of meeting the same fate..
