Jerome Wright (speaking on video): Why are we here today? I set out to talk on this national tour that’s trying to end solitary. And then I get sidetracked the court, where two of those officers were found not guilty. But let me say this: Before the truth can set you free, you need to recognize which lies are holding you hostage. And the lie that holds us hostage in this country is that there’s justice What we saw today was a lack of justice. They tried to use HALT to subterfuge the justice that should have happened as a result of [Robert Brooks’s] murder. Today, when we’re talking about torture, we’re having officers found not guilty of murder that happened by torture. They’re torturing people, murdering people, and they’re doing it with impunity. This system has failed us. Again. We’re in front of a church, and you know what? The two most human things you’ll find in the Bible, are about money and prison. Why? Because even God knew that incarcerated lives matter….
