New York Prison Officers Launch Massive Strike — What Happens Next?

For the past several days, corrections officers at prisons across the state have been on strike. Officers are calling for a full repeal of the HALT act, which limits the use of solitary confinement in prisons. At the top of the week, Governor Kathy Hochul said that her administration has tried to negotiate, but would be moving forward with legal proceedings against the officers. 
By late Thursday, Hochul and the officers union came to a tentative agreement, which meant a 90-day pause on the HALT act. At this time, officers are reviewing the terms of that agreement…
