Brooklyn District Attorney Eric Gonzalez is backing two bills to ease the release of older and parole-eligible inmates — giving law enforcement heft to measures being pushed by lefty criminal justice advocates.
“Every incarcerated person deserves a parole system that is meaningful, compassionate, and allows for the possibility of redemption,” Gonzalez said.
One bill would expand parole eligibility for inmates 55 years and older; the other ensures release for people in prison unless deemed a public safety risk. Gonzalez’s support follows Gov.
