The High Cost of Low Risk • The Crisis of Aging and Incarceration • Webinar

June 11 @ 1:00 pm 2:00 pm

In 2013, diverse leaders, organizations, and stakeholders came together to form the NY Aging Reentry Task Force. The next year, The Osborne Association issued a report called The High Cost of Low Risk: The Crisis of America’s Aging Prison Population. In the past 10 years, the NY State prison population has decreased from 54,000 to 30,000 yet the percentage of older people has gone up. In Rikers alone, older people (age 50 and up) make up 13% of the population. This panel discussion will look at where we’ve come in the past 10 years, discuss the current aging and incarceration landscape, and present an urgent call to action for this moment and the future. For more information, contact The Osborne Association.
