Advocates travel to Albany to push for prison, parole reforms

STATE CAPITOL — As Gov. Kathy Hochul proposes closing up to five prisons this year, parole and prison reform advocates gathered at the state Capitol Tuesday to push legislation aimed at systematic change.

Assemblyman Harvey Epstein and state Sen. Zellnor Myrie joined advocates from 13th Forward, a grassroots organization that aims to create an equitable prison labor system, to urge passage of The No Slavery in NY Act, which would end the practice of forced prison labor.
