
(New York, NY) – Today, family members of incarcerated of New Yorkers, formerly incarcerated New Yorkers, and other advocates held a rally outside Governor Kathy Hochul’s NYC office, calling on her to fulfill her commitment to expand the use of executive clemency to reunite families, heal communities, and help end mass incarceration. There was a crisis of aging, sickness, and death in NYS prisons, with a New Yorker dying in state prison roughly every two and a half days, even before the recent crisis caused by guards lynching Robert Brooks and Messiah Nantwi and then embarking on an illegal work stoppage.
